Writing A Response to What You Read.
When you read something; an article, a story, or a poem, whatever... you may be asked to respond to what you have read. When we are asked to talk about what we read, we use words in a discussion format. But sometimes we are asked to WRITE about what we read. Maybe it is because it is on a test, or maybe it allows everyone to express their thoughts, opinions and interpretations so that it can be further discussed. There are many ways to respond to what we read.
Just THINK before you WRITE.
Take time to read the article, poem or story THOROUGHLY. If you are going to write about it, you have to READ it!
Have a plan to organize your thoughts
Include details from what you read. It is sometimes fine to include your opinion, but use what you read to back up your thoughts/answers.
Number, organize, or mark your main points so they don't get lost in your response.
Keep it on topic and address the question or writing prompt
