To better understand the life of the well known poet, Edgar Allen Poe, complete the scavenger hunt with your partner. You and your partner will investigate the links below to find the answers to the questions on the scavenger hunt page. The links will open up in a new page and may require you to follow the links within the website. Watching the biography video will also help you understand his life.

Day Two
"POE"sters
Using the scavenger hunt answers from day one and the information from the links below create a "Poe"ster that describes the important events in Poe's life. Use the handout with Poe's picture in the center and create a poster that shows the important events that you think shaped him as a person. You will not be able to include ALL of the events, so look over the information from day one, the information in the links below and decide what you and your partner think are the 10 events that impacted and shaped his life the most. BE ready to support your choices. Your posters will be assessed using the following scoring guide:

Examining Poe's Work
Poe's best known works are Gothic, a category he followed to please the public. His recurring themes deal with death, including its physical signs, the effects of rotting,a phobia of premature burial, the walking dead, and mourning. Many of his works are considered part of the dark romanticism genre. Beyond horror, Poe also wrote satires, humor tales, and hoaxes. to be funny, he used irony and crazy ideas in an attempt to change the readers thoughts about the social/cultural normal.
