TURKEY TWEETS
Twitter is a form of social media where the user is permitted to post something but it can only have 140 characters (letters) and that includes SPACES. The posts are called tweets.
You are going to pretend that you are a turkey who is ready to be your THANKSGIVING MEAL. What do you think that turkey might TWEET? It can have NO more than 140 characters or spaces
example: Please don't eat me. I’m a nice turkey but I don't really taste that good. Why not choose something tastier, like chicken or maybe the goose?
-- This tweet has exactly 140 characters and spaces.
bad example: Please don't eat me. I am a nice turkey but I don't really taste that good. I promise. Why not choose something tastier, like chicken, or the cow, or the goose?
-- This tweet has WAY TOO MANY CHARACTERS and SPACES. It has 158!
Challenge: See how close to or right at 140 you can get.
We will be writing these "turkey tweets" on a turkey feather and displaying them in the hallway. Use the brainstorming sheet to help you out and then let me check it before completing it on the feather.

The link above will take you to the brainstorm sheet that you can use to keep count of the characters and spaces for each tweet you create. I look forward to reading your creations.

Extension Activity:
How about the Pilgrims and Native Americans?
What might some of their tweets have been before, during and after that first Thanksgiving?
Maybe you could create tweets from the perspective of Miles Standish or William Bradford. How about Squanto?
Be creative!
