Communication Nation

What is communication?

What does it mean to communicate?

BRAIN DUMP:  Your group will be given 5 minutes.  Every 30 seconds you will be given an opportunity to "dump your brain" on to your paper.  Think about all of the WAYS we communicate.  Write down as many as you can think of in the 30 seconds.  When the bell rings you will pass the paper to the next person. We will continue to do this until the five minutes has passed.  Then we will play last man standing to see who came up with the most unique list.

Writing for a PURPOSE

Different kinds of writing require us to use different styles of writing. However, whenever we write we also have to think about our "audience". For example, when we write letters to Grandma Ruth it is going to be a little different then when we write a letter to the school board asking them to please not make us wear uniforms.  Even though they are both letters and have similar formats, the audience will determine how we approach our writing.

Click on the link below to view this week's TARGET flyer.  You will be given 5-10 minutes to choose a product from the flyer that you will use to complete our writing activity. You will use the product you chose and complete three of the writing activities.  Our goal will be that even though we are writing about the same product the style that we use for each prompt will be different because of the audience we are addressing.  As you complete each prompt SAVE them to your student drive so that you will be able to access it from any computer. DO NOT just save it to your desktop.
